Screen Two: Burn Your Phone (BBC Comedy, Alun Cumming)
One off comedy drama Burn Your Phone was filmed for the Screen Two series and adapted for TV from the 30 minute radio play first broadcast on Radio 4 as part of the First Bite season in September 1995.
Andy (Alan Cumming) is a telephone operator dealing with stroppy customers, old ladies who think he’s meals on wheels, and getting involved with reversed charge marital disputes. But today, one caller (Jason Isaacs) keeps phoning, making threats to kill Andy. And still Andy must deal with all the other emergency calls. He does his best to keep calm but eventually he cracks, yelling “Burn your phone” to a startled caller. Directed by star Cumming and filmed at Elstree Studios on 19 and 20 November 1995.
