Six part BBC drama serial Sex, Chips And Rock ‘N’ Roll has pop band the Ice Cubes turning up in a drab northern town in 1965 to play a gig and changing forever the lives of two sisters, the shy and smart Ellie (Gillian Kearney) and the upfront Arden (Emma Cooke).
The girls (who live with their widowed father Norman (David Threlfall) and domineering grandmother (Sue Johnston) ) end up heading for the bright lights of London, Ellie has a talent for writing songs and inbetween falling in love with the Ice Cubes lead singer Dallas Mccabe (Joseph McFadden) comes up with a potential number one for the band, if only their “dodgy” manager Larry (Phil Daniels) doesn’t get in the way.
