Sir Yellow (ITV Sitcom, Jimmy Edwards, Melvyn Hayes)

In this one season period sitcom we are in the 13th Century where knight Sir Yellow (Jimmy Edwards) spends his time carousing and doing his best to avoid any kind of fighting. Unfortunately the evil Black Knight is determined to fight him to the death.

Sir Yellow’s faithful assistant is Gregory (Melvyn Hayes) and his entourage also includes Cedric (Michael Ripper) and Sir Groswold (Alan Curtis).

To tie in with the first episode there was an interview with Jimmy in the weeks TV Times (7 July 1973). He played up to his character but interviewer Ian Cotton managed to get under his skin and revealed an insecure and lonely soul. Cotton followed Edwards for a couple of days, including taking in the filming of one episode. Despite the best efforts of the cast, filming fell a little flat with the studio audience.
