Crime drama series The Sopranos offered up intrigue, double dealing and strife in a modern day Mafia family in New Jersey. When New Jersey gangster and family man Tony Soprano collapses after an anxiety attack, he reluctantly consults a psychiatrist. In his therapy sessions, Tony hesitantly reveals his floundering relationships with his brash, savvy wife and his difficult children. But his mob ethics prevent him telling the whole truth about his affairs…

The Sopranos was the firsy TV series to be exhibited at New Yorks Museum of Modern Art, the show itself is a clear forerunner to the type of of production that makes up Peak TV these days.
