Patricia Hodge heads an all-star cast in Sweet Medicine – a drama about a family-run medical practice in Derbyshire. The series also stars Jason Merrells, Gillian Kearney, Oliver Milburn, Oliver Chris, David Rintoul, Katie Blake, Lucy Cohu and Sarah Churm.

Georgina Sweet (Patricia Hodge) is the elegant and manipulative matriarch, who has the practice and family firmly under her watchful eye. Following a family crisis, her eldest son Nick Sweet (Jason Merrells) and his beautiful wife Deb (Gillian Kearney), both doctors, return from London to the village of Stoneford.

Circumstances force Nick and Deb to put their London life on hold and take over the Sweet Family Practice, with the help of Nick’s cousin Geoff (Oliver Chris), already a junior partner.

Eddie Sweet (Oliver Milburn), Georgina’s wayward younger son, has chosen not to follow in his family’s medical footsteps, but pursue passions of his own.

ITV had hoped this would be a successor to Peak Practice but it never caught on and before the series was out it had been shunted into a late night post news slot.
