Teen Wolf (MTV 2011-2017, Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed)
Fantasy supernatural teen drama series Teen Wolf is a re-imagining of the “classic” Michael J. Fox movie of the mid 1980’s but with a more angst ridden, teen-drama-esque drive tapping into the Twilight/True Blood vibe. The basic plot remains the same, teenager Scott McCall is bitten by a werewolf and founds that he has gained some quite extra ordinary powers and of course he is now also a werewolf himself.
Always something of an outsider Scott now finds it even more difficult to maintain a normal life and keep his new “talents” hidden. Luckily his best friend Stiles shares his secret and he is also able to confide in Derek Hale who also happens to be a werewolf and is on a quest to find his missing sister. Meanwhile Scott’s girlfriend Allison also knows nothing about his abilities even if Lacrosse captain Jackson is determined to find out where Scott’s new found skills in the game come from.
It’s not the first time Teen Wolf (which had a strong emphasis on comedy) has found it’s way to the small screen as there was an animated version that aired in 1987. This is a very different kettle of fish though with a heavy slant towards drama and romance.
