Period crime drama series set in Victorian times sleuth Dr Evelyn Thorndyke (Peter Copley) uses the latest forensic methods to help him on his cases.

The series grew out of an episode of the series Detective called The Case of Oscar Brodski broadcast on 6 July 1964, the Thorndyke series followed just four months later.

Guest stars across the six episodes included Patrick Troughton, George A. Cooper, John Le Mesurier, Wanda Ventham, Harry Towb, Ronald Leigh-Hunt, Jack May and Kenneth Colley. Episode were written by Allan Prior, C.E. Webber and Robert Banks Stewart who all wrote two apiece.
