102 Boulevard Haussmann (Screen Two BBC-2 1991, Alan Bates, Paul Rhys)
Period drama 102 Boulevard Haussmann saw the writer Marcel Proust becomes obsessed with a viola player in war ravaged Paris in 1916. Proust, who seldom ventured outside the confines of his apartment, took a visit to a concern where the musician, a wounded serviceman home from the front, was playing with a string quarter.
A slight tale enlivened by the superb cast and a lightness of touch from writer Alan Bennett.
