Another Sunday And Sweet F.A. (ITV 1972, David Swift, Lynne Carol)

Comedy drama Another Sunday and Sweet FA focuses on a sunday League football match between two rival amateur teams. The Co-op Albion’s second eleven and the Parker Street Bus Depot, that quickly gets out of hand.

Another Sunday is a brilliantly entertaining hour that features a top flight cast and some legendary scenes, especially when referee David Swift scores a goal.

The dialogue is just so crisp and funny and certainly helped in no small measure by the dead pan playing of the cast. The match, for once, also actually looks quite realistic.

Also check out the not to be missed sight of a young Deirdre Barlow in hotpants!! There is a cute touch with the scoreline being displayed during the Ad break bumpers.

classic quote
“What we’re now about to witness, is called a football match. Not the beginning of World War Three.”
