Armchair Theatre: Poor Mother (ITV 13 Oct 1974, Amanda Reiss, Mona Washbourne)

In Fay Weldon scripted drama Poor Mother young bride Bambi is in hospital having had her first child. She is quickly realises that married life is not all it’s cracked up to be. Worst still her husband Graeme seems to have his own agenda.

In a small piece in the Week’s TV Times Amanda Reiss (who was 26 playing the 19 year old Bambi, was not interested in marriage saying she was “indifferent”. She was though more than happy to live with a man before marriage “I see nothing wrong with living with the man I love, with or without a ring.”
