No relation to the late 1970’s series of the same name this Armchair Thriller was a short run anthology of five episodes that was a spring gap fill in between seasons of ITV’s long running Armchair Theatre strand (which had begun back in 1956 and ran until 1974).
Whereas Armchair Theatre covered plays of all kinds, the five featured here obviously made use of the thriller element, mostly focused on people caught up in something out of their control.
Writers were Roger Marshall, Julian Bond, Jack Trevor Story, Jacques Gillies and Stanley Miller whilst the generally high profile casts included Alfred Burke (who was then starring in the popular crime drama Public Eye), John Gregson, Sylvia Syms, Freddie Jones, Paul Eddington, William Lucas and Timothy West.
