Castle Haven (ITV 1972, Gretchen Franklin, George Waring)

Drama series that took us to the Yorkshire coast where Castle Haven is a pair of large Victorian houses that have been converted into 8 flats. Middle aged Tom and Sarah Meek are the caretakers whilst other residents included newly married Phil and Jo Mercer, shift worker Ivor Davies and his wife Alice and the Czechoslavakian Josip Pospichal.

Put together by Emmerdale Farm creator Kevin Laffan, Castle Haven is a classic soapy style drama, never fully networked by ITV (74 episodes were shown by Thames between 27 June and 13 October 1972 when ITV started their afternoon broadcasts). Apparently the series is one the few Yorkshire shows to have been completely wiped (apart from that is, the second half of one episode)
