Dave’s Kingdom (ITV 1964, David King, Victor Maddern)

Sitcom Dave’s Kingdom detailed episodes (often fantasy based) in the life of Dave King and usually set in his apartment.

This was Dave King’s return to UK TV after a couple of years spent in America. Initially the plan was to make an hour long variety series but for various networking reasons the slot became a half hour one. King wouldn’t then commit to a half hour variety and chose the sitcom format instead. The “Walter Mitty”” angle allowed him pretty much free reign to take the stories where he wanted. In truth it was more sketch based than sitcom.
