Hope It Rains (ITV 1991-1992, Tom Bell, Holly Aird)
In sitcom Hope It Rains Jace Elliott (Holly Aird) helps her godfather Harry (Tom Bell) run his Empire Wax Museum in a seaside town. Harry is struggling to make the waxworks pay and is rather put out when Jace turns up following the death of her parents.
The title of course comes from the fact that if the weather took a turn for the worse it would encourage holiday makers into the waxworks.
A rare comedy role for the always excellent Tom Bell and a rare foray onto the ITV network for John Esmonde and Bob Larbey. The series is the classic Odd Couple style situation of total opposites having to get on and although it ran for two seasons it didn’t seem to make much of an impression.
