Kidnap And Ransom (ITV 2011-2012, Trevor Eve, Helen Baxendale)

Crime drama series Kidnap and Ransom focuses on the work of a team of hostage negotiators led by expert Dominic King who are called in when a prominent business woman is kidnapped in South Africa. What at first seems to be a fairly straight forward case soon reveals itself to be far more complicated with kidnapper Willard making events turn a more sinister shade. King and his team – which includes his boss Angela and assistant Carrie, are pushed to the ragged edge to bring the hostage home safely.

The action in the second season moved to India where a group of tourists were kidnapped. Again it’s far from a straight forward case.

Like any good modern day tv hero King has more than a few troubles on the home front and there are strained relations with wife Sophia.

Kidnap and Ransom was the first fruits of Trevor Eve’s production company Projector’s team up with TalkBack Thames. Filmed on location in South Africa, Eve and his production team brainstormed the initial premise and then brought in Harbinson to flesh out the story.

The first season saw an appearance from Eve’s real life wife Sharon Maughan.
