Law and Order UK (ITV 2009-2014, Freema Agyeman, Bradley Walsh)

Crime drama series Law and Order UK is a spin off from the long running US show of the same name and each episode follows a particular case from two angles, that of the police tracking down the criminals and then to court with the Crown prosecutors. The series was an immediate hit with the UK audiences.

The cops heading up most cases are Detective Sergeants Ronnie Brooks and his oppo Matt Devlin. Meanwhile on the prosecutor side the initial Director of the Crown Prosecution Service was George Castle but Henry Sharpe arrived for season five, at the same time Senior Crown Prosecutor James Steel was replaced by Jake Thorpe.

The storylines were generally hard hitting too but that is not overly surprising as all of the episodes are remakes of original US ones.
