Dirty Rotten Scammers: Episode 8 (S1EP8 BBC One Wed 15 June 2022)

Sharon was alarmed when she received a call from an online marketplace fraud department, having previously experienced someone attempting to clone her bank cards. She quickly got them off the phone. When her bank called the next day to report suspicious activity, she acted quickly and transferred money to a safe account, only to find out she’d lost £2,000 and the whole thing was a hoax.

Lynne wanted to put her money into a safe investment, but she was pressured by con artists to put up thousands of pounds she didn’t have. Lynne is worried about how much information the criminals may have on her after they took over her laptop after she downloaded a piece of technology.

Also in the episode, we follow Sussex Police as they install call-blocking technology in a vulnerable victim’s home, to keep scam calls at bay.
