Later… with Jools Holland: Liam Gallagher, Sinead O’Brien, Charlotte Adigéry, Bolis Pupul, Oumou Sangaré (S60EP2 BBC Two Sat 20 May 2022)
Liam Gallagher, a rock’n’roll legend, joins Jools for a couple of tracks with his band from his upcoming album C’mon You Know, as well as an exclusive bonus track for BBC iPlayer. Liam also talks about a Jimmy Cliff performance he chose from the Later… archives, as well as his first appearance on the show with Oasis in 1994.
Sinead O’Brien, a Dubliner and debutante, shares her spellbinding poetry and songwriting on the track Holy Country, which is taken from her upcoming debut album, which sees the Irish wordsmith experimenting with the form and shape of language.
We also welcome Belgian duo Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul, who make their first appearance on the show with a track from their album Topical Dancer, which was produced by fellow Belgian electro band Soulwax.
Malian singer Oumou Sangaré, also known as the songbird of Wassoulou, returns to the show to perform a couple of songs from her thirteenth studio album, Timbuktu. It’s a fusion of blues, folk, rock, and traditional Malian music recorded in the United States, Mali, and France, and features a kamele n’goni, a Malian lute.
