Mayo Episode Two (BBC-1 19 Mar 2006, with Nigel Planer)

In Episode 2 the team are called in following the murder of Marion Dove, owner of the Dove’s Glass Factory. With a whole factory full of suspects the gang discover that Marion (who was also suffering from cancer) had changed her will two weeks before her death leaving everything to the son, Steven Marshall, that she had given up at birth for adoption.

There’s a bit of a 1960’s vibe to this one, Marion was a former hippy and was apparently putting it about with all and sundry. Lots of flirting going on between Mayo and Jones and a running joke about Mayo being a possible cross dresser after Kite discovers him trying on Jones’ earrings. Nigel Planer seems to be channeling an older version of his hippy Neal from the Young Ones here too.
