A Yorkshire Farm Episode 9, 2 May 2024, Channel 5

A Yorkshire Farm returns with another entertaining episode, exploring farming life across Britain. In this episode we follow farmers Rob and Dave Nicholson as they navigate challenging births during the frenetic lambing season and receive an unexpected emergency call.

The episode, airing on Channel 5 on Thursday, 2 May, begins with an early start for Rob and Dave as they tackle a variety of troublesome births, including confused mums and stray triplet lambs. JB Gill, a familiar face on the show, heads to a Cotswold farm to meet farming chef Louise Duck, who grows her own red hot chilli peppers. Things take an intense turn as JB samples her spicy hot sauces.

Yorkshire vet Julian Norton is called into action in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, when a pygmy goat breeder becomes overwhelmed by the arrival of thirty boisterous newborns. Julian lends his expertise to help manage this chaotic yet adorable situation. Rob and Dave’s day takes an unexpected turn when they are called to assist an injured adult deer that has been involved in a road traffic accident. They provide initial care until vet Matt arrives to offer further assistance.

The episode also features Sam Bailey, the Young Farmer of the Year, who manages 600 sheep and 150 dairy cows on his farm. However, things get tricky when he discovers that one of his mum-to-be cows, Mary, is expecting twins. Rob and Dave also face a threat to their free-range hens due to a contagious disease, and they seek help from Yorkshire Vet Matt Jackson-Smith for their beloved ram with spiralling horns. Additionally, West Country farmer Roger Longman faces an outbreak of an infectious disease, putting hundreds of newborn kid goats at risk.
