Australian Crime Thriller Black Snow Season 2 First Look

Sundance Now and AMC+ have released a first look image of the second season of the gripping Australian crime drama Black Snow. The six-part mystery-drama series, produced by Goalpost Pictures and set in the Glasshouse Mountains, is currently filming in Queensland, Australia.

Starring Travis Fimmel as Detective James Cormack, the new season sees Cormack tackling two separate missing persons cases. On a professional level, he investigates the disappearance of Zoe Jacobs (played by Jana McKinnon), who vanished from her 21st birthday party in 2003. On a personal level, Cormack desperately searches for his younger brother, who went missing during their childhood.

Joining Fimmel in the cast are newcomers Jana McKinnon (“Bad Behaviour”), Megan Smart (“Class of ’07”), Alana Mansour (“Erotic Stories”), and Dan Spielman (“Bad Behaviour”, “The Newsreader“). The series also features Victoria Haralabidou (“Tourist”) and Kat Stewart (“Offspring”), alongside returning cast members Jemmason Power, Talijah Blackman-Corowa, and Brooke Satchwell.

The first season of Black Snow received critical acclaim and was nominated for Most Outstanding Drama Series at the 2023 Logie Awards. It also received two nominations at the 2024 AACTA Awards, including Best Drama Series and Best Lead Actor in a Drama for Travis Fimmel. With sales to major international territories, the series won the Screen Business Export Award at the Australian Screen Producer Awards.

The second season is directed by Sian Davies (“The Gloaming”) and Helena Brooks (“Population 11”), with executive producer Rosemary Blight (“The Invisible Man”) and series creator Lucas Taylor (“Harrow”) returning. Season one lead actor Talijah Blackman-Corowa joins the production team as a director’s attachment.

Black Snow is a Sundance Now Original Series produced in association with Stan and All3Media International, with financial support from Screen Queensland, Screen NSW, and City of Gold Coast. A release date for the second season has not yet been announced.
