Stan announce 25 new and returning originals

Australian Streamer Stan has announced an impressive lineup of 25 Stan Originals across television, film, and documentaries. The announcement was made during a special showcase event held at the iconic Sydney Opera House.

Among the exciting new commissions are Critical Incident, Watching You, and Sunny Nights, as well as Good Cop/Bad Cop featuring Hollywood stars Leighton Meester, Luke Cook, and Clancy Brown. Fan-favorite shows such as Black Snow with Travis Fimmel, Bump, Poker Face with Natasha Lyonne, Ten Pound Poms with Michelle Keegan, and Scrublands will also be returning.

Stan is known for championing exceptional storytelling and premium Australian content in various genres. The platform continues to collaborate with local and international talent to elevate Australian storytelling on a global scale.

Stan CEO Martin Kugeler highlighted the success of their strategy in an evolving SVOD landscape: “Our significant investment in Australian premium Stan Originals is a key part of our success… We continue to acquire global hits like Yellowstone and The Walking Dead while also streaming live coverage of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Cailah Scobie, Stan Chief Content Officer echoed this sentiment by emphasizing their commitment to fresh creative voices: “We remain steadfast in our commitment to championing fresh and established creatives… While our focus is always on Australian audiences… Stan Originals connect with Australians on a global stage.”

The newly announced slate includes five brand-new scripted series. Critical Incident follows the aftermath of a police officer injuring a bystander during a pursuit on a train platform. Sunny Nights is set against Sydney’s criminal underworld as two siblings try to grow their struggling spray tan business.

Watching You is a gripping psychological thriller based on J.P Pomare’s novel that explores the consequences when an intimate moment captured by hidden cameras threatens to ruin one woman’s life.

Good Cop/Bad Cop features sister-brother detective duo Lou and Henry navigating a small Pacific Northwest police force while contending with a serious lack of resources and their complicated relationship with their father, who is also the police chief.

Nugget, a heartwarming Christmas production, tells the story of a dermatologist forced to confront her dysfunctional family and mortality during the holidays when her beloved dog falls ill.

Additionally, two new original series were announced: Exposure starring Alice Englert, Essie Davis, and Thomas Weatherill as part of a psychological thriller that uncovers hidden secrets following the death of a friend; Invisible Boys is an LGBTQIA+ drama that explores friendship, identity, and acceptance through the lives of three young Australians.

Stan also unveiled its unscripted lineup headlined by Drag Race Down Under returning for its fourth season with Michelle Visage as host alongside Australian comedian Rhys Nicholson. Trailblazers showcases the journey of Australia’s national women’s football team leading up to the Olympic Games Paris 2024. The Revealed documentary slate includes Bribe Inc., which uncovers global corruption in the oil industry; KillJoy tells the story of family violence from a unique perspective; Malka Leifer examines an abuse scandal in Melbourne.

With such an impressive range of programming across scripted and unscripted genres, Stan continues to solidify its position as one of Australia’s most successful streaming platforms.
