Britain’s Got Talent is known for its surprise moments, and last nights audition by Harrison Pettman, a 22-year-old singer from Kent, was no exception. In a surprise twist, Harrison shocked his parents, who were sitting in the audience with him, by taking the stage himself.
On Saturday night, Harrison quietly sat in the audience with his mother and father, watching the auditions. As the night’s final act approached, he excused himself, telling his parents he needed to use the toilet. Little did they know, he had a surprise in store.
Harrison snuck downstairs to the stage, leaving his parents clueless. When he stepped out and began singing “With You” from Ghost: The Musical, his family’s faces dropped in shock. Confused, his mother gasped, “Oh, is that Harrison?”
Harrison’s parents were not the only ones impress as their son belted out the ballad, the judges, Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and Bruno Tonioli were too.
Surprise auditions are not uncommon on Britain’s Got Talent. In 2022, teacher Mike Woodhams performed a jukebox of impressions, leaving the judges and audience in stitches. In the same year, Kimberly Winter reimagined an ABBA hit in a burp-worthy audition.
In 2024, Sydnie Christmas won a Golden Buzzer with her emotional cover of “Tomorrow.”
Harrison’s parents, who watched him perform with tears in their eyes, beamed with pride as he won the hearts of the country.
Britain’s Got Talent aired on Saturday night on ITV1 and continues tonight.
