Lifetime’s Dance Moms: The Reunion, premiering on Wednesday May 1, sees the return of fan-favorite dancers JoJo Siwa, Chloe Lukasiak, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, Kendall Vertes, and Kalani Hilliker, five years after the show’s final curtain in 2019. The two-hour special will be followed by the debut of Dance Moms: Epic Showdowns, hosted by Christi Lukasiak.

The young women, who were children when they first appeared on the show, will reunite to reflect on their time on the series and discuss their most memorable moments. They will be joined by their mothers, Jessalynn Siwa, Kelly Hyland, Jill Vertes, Kira Hilliker, and Christi Lukasiak, who will make a special appearance.

Dance Moms, which first premiered in 2011, centered on the dance team at the Abby Lee Dance Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The show followed young girls aged 8 to 13 and their stage moms as they navigated the world of elite dance competitions. The dancers trained under Abby Lee Miller, whose aggressive and demanding tactics caused constant conflict with the mothers.

Miller, who will be notably absent from the reunion, has faced a series of public struggles since the show ended. She served time in prison for bankruptcy fraud, was diagnosed with cancer, and now uses a wheelchair due to paralysis. She has also been accused of racism and criticized for what some allege is abusive behavior.

Dance Moms: The Reunion will offer a look back at the show’s impact on the dancers’ lives and careers. The teaser trailer, released in March, hints at unresolved tensions and complicated relationships, with Kalani stating, “I don’t think anyone can explain how complicated our relationships are with her [Abby].”

Dance Moms: The Reunion airs on Lifetime at 8.00 pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
