Dance Moms is back with a trip down memory lane, as Christi Lukasiak revisits some of the most intense and controversial moments from the show’s history. This includes a rare clash between Abby Lee Miller and Melissa Gisoni, as well as the conflicts between Christi and Abby that ultimately led to Christi and her daughter, Chloe Lukasiak, leaving the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC).
Christi and Chloe were original stars of the show, and their decision to leave in 2014 was not a surprise to fans, who had witnessed the unfair treatment of Chloe by her coach, Abby. However, many questioned why they didn’t leave sooner. Christi explained that her decision to stay was for Chloe, who had grown up with the other girls at the dance studio and considered them sisters.
Christi and Abby had a contentious relationship, often clashing over the treatment of Chloe and Abby’s favouritism towards Maddie Ziegler. Christi was also known for her close friendship with Kelly Hyland, her hilarious confessionals, and her devotion to being a good mother.
The final straw came when Abby made fun of Chloe’s medical condition, which was not shown in the episode. This incident caused Christi and Chloe to leave the ALDC months before departing from the show. Chloe went on to pursue other opportunities, including music videos and a successful YouTube career.
Dance Moms Epic Showdowns: That’s Messed Up! airs on Lifetime at 8.00 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
