Disney Channel has announced a new series, currently titled “Wizards,” a follow-on from the Emmy-winning “Wizards of Waverly Place.” The show begins production in Los Angeles next month and is expected to air later this year on Disney Channel and Disney+.

The new kids’ show reunites Selena Gomez and David Henrie, who reprise their roles as Alex and Justin Russo. Gomez will guest star in the premiere episode, and Henrie will appear regularly throughout the series. Also returning are two further original cast members: Jennifer Stone as Harper Finkle and Gregg Sulkin as Mason Greyback, both of whom will be familiar to fans of the Wizard World.

Joining the cast for the first time are Janice LeAnn Brown as the powerful young wizard Billie, Alkaio Thiele as Justin’s oldest son Roman, and Mimi Gianopulos as Justin’s wife, Giada. Meanwhile, Max Matenko takes on the role of Justin’s youngest son, Milo.

The story picks up with an adult Justin Russo, living a mortal life with his family. When Alex brings a young wizard-in-training, Billie, into his world, Justin is drawn back into the magical realm. He must juggle his normal life with his responsibilities as a wizard and mentor to Billie. At the same time, he must also ensure the future safety of the Wizard World.
