The fourteenth season of Doctor Who continues with the fourth episode, “73 Yards,” airing on BBC One and Disney+ from Saturday May 25.
Landing on the Welsh coast, the Doctor and Ruby find themselves on an unusual journey. They stumble upon a rain-soaked pub, where the locals are gripped by fear, anticipating the revival of ancient legends.
Showrunner Russell T Davies teases a mysterious and eerie episode, saying “I literally had to go and stand on Swansea Pier and work out exactly what 73 yards was to make this story work—that’ll make sense when you see it”. He promises a unique installment, stating, “It’s spooky, it’s strange, it’s genuinely unlike any other episode we’ve ever done before.”
With a “Doctor-lite” narrative, the episode shifts the focus to Ruby, played by Millie Gibson. Ruby takes centre stage as she confronts a chilling scenario: a white-haired woman who stalks her from a distance, maintaining an exact distance of 73 yards. The Doctor is absent, and the TARDIS is locked, adding to the suspense.
The “73 Yards” cast features Ncuti Gatwa as The Doctor, Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday, legendary actress Dame Sian Phillips, Aneurin Barnard, Jemma Redgrave, and Maxine Evans.
The episode airs on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK, and viewers in the US can tune in on Disney+.
Doctor Who: 73 Yards airs on Friday, May 24, 2024, on BBC One at 6.50pm but drops earlier on Disney+ and iPlayer.
