In this series 12 premiere of For the Love of Dogs, Alison Hammond steps into the role of presenter, following in the footsteps of the late Paul O’Grady. The episode introduces viewers to adorable dogs in need of loving homes and showcases the important work of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

The episode begins with Alison meeting a tiny three-week-old puppy who was tragically thrown away in a bin. She expresses her disbelief that anyone could discard such an innocent life, reflecting on the joy of motherhood.

Alison also encounters Nelly, a nine-year-old spaniel whose owner could no longer care for her due to illness. Nelly requires eye medication, and Alison offers a comforting cuddle before her impending operation.

The series premiere further highlights Alison’s encounter with a spaniel-terrier cross, full of energy and hoping to put his enthusiasm to good use as a sniffer dog.
