FX’s “Welcome to Wrexham” Season 3 Will Now Premiere May 2

Sources have confirmed that the premiere of Welcome to Wrexham’s third season has been delayed from its original release date of 18 April. FX and Hulu subscribers will now be able to stream the first two episodes of the new season on 2 May, with a new episode available weekly thereafter. The docuseries follows Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney on their journey as owners of Wrexham AFC, a fifth-tier Welsh football club, as they look to guide the team to success.

The Emmy Award-winning series has been a ratings hit on FX and Hulu, with the first two seasons documenting the duo’s crash course in football club ownership. The inaugural season concluded with the club falling just short of promotion to the professional leagues, but season two saw Wrexham achieve this goal, after a dramatic final match win saw them crowned champions of the National League.

Season three will continue the story of the men’s team as they compete in League Two for the first time, with heightened media access providing viewers with an immersive experience. This includes behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with players and staff, offering a unique insight into the locker room dynamics and pitch-side drama.

Alongside this, the new season will shift its focus to the women’s team, following their historic undefeated campaign and subsequent promotion to the Welsh Adran Premier League. The question of whether they can continue their dominance at the top level of the sport will be explored.

The new season will depict the ‘world’s third-oldest professional football club’s’ continued efforts to rise through the leagues:

In 2020, Rob and Ryan teamed up to purchase the 5th tier Red Dragons in the hopes of turning the Club into an underdog story the whole world could root for. The world took notice and change is afoot. After fifteen painful seasons in the National League, the Club finally achieved promotion back into the English Football League. The stakes have never been higher.

The show’s global reach is also expanding, with Star+ acquiring the rights to broadcast the series in Latin America, and Disney+ screening it in other territories. This move will ensure that the series, which has already earned five Emmy Awards, reaches a wider audience.
