In the second episode of Inside the Hilton: Park Lane, viewers are invited behind the scenes of the iconic London Hilton on Park Lane as it navigates a multi-million-pound renovation while accommodating foreign dignitaries, hosting lavish banquets, and uncovering emotional stories.
The episode, airing on Channel 5 on Sunday 14 April, opens with the arrival of the Ambassador of East Timor, one of the first foreign dignitaries to meet with the newly crowned King Charles. Head of Sales, Georgina, and her deputy, Marcia, ensure the ambassador’s stay is seamless, despite an unexpected early arrival that catches Restaurant Manager Peter Avis off guard.
Chef Marshall and his team face their own challenges, preparing a banquet for 800 VIPs, only to discover they’re missing a key ingredient the night before the event. The pressure is on, but the team’s resilience and expertise shine through.
The episode also introduces viewers to two long-serving staff members: 79-year-old Events Manager Fillipe, who has worked at the hotel since 1967, and Ukrainian-born Events Co-ordinator Natalia. Natalia’s story takes an emotional turn as she reveals the difficulty of being apart from her family, with her husband and son fighting in Ukraine.
The top-floor restaurant, Galvin at Windows, welcomes a special guest—retired New York Stockbroker Kenny Otto, who has a deep connection to the hotel. Kenny shares his moving story, including his experience during a devastating terrorist attack, and introduces his companion, Bucks, a dog who helps him cope.
