Jeopardy! Monday April 29, 2024, Recap, Winner and Final Answer

Jeopardy Ken Jennings

Jeopardy! welcomed three new contestants on Monday, April 29, 2024. Kirsten Lundquist, a product marketer from Burlington, Vermont; Ferdinand Percentie, a day trader from Altamonte Springs, Florida; and Amy Hummel, an ER doctor and three-day champion from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with total winnings of $58,195, all prepared to showcase their knowledge and quick thinking.

The first round featured diverse categories, including Literature: The Something of Something, Communicating, Chronically On Line, Fun with Prefixes, Greater Than, Less Than or Equal To, and Disney Movie by Lyrics. Ferdinand Percentie made an early strategic move by wagering $1,000 on the Daily Double question in the Literature category, adding to his score. The clue pertained to Stephen Crane’s novel The Red Badge of Courage.

At the first break, Amy Hummel maintained a slight lead with $2,600, followed by Ferdinand Percentie with $1,200, while Kirsten Lundquist found herself in negative territory with -$200. As the game progressed into Double Jeopardy!, the contestants were presented with new categories: Put It in the Louvre!, Television, Getting Territorial, Names in American History, Business Anniversaries, and 3 Consecutive Consonants.

Ferdinand Percentie continued to demonstrate his knowledge and strategic wagering, correctly answering both Daily Double questions in this round. He added $5,000 to his total with the first Daily Double, identifying the territory of Gibraltar through its notable avenues. He further extended his lead by recognizing a fresco by the Italian master Botticelli in the Put It in the Louvre! category, adding another $4,000 to his score.

Entering Final Jeopardy!, Ferdinand Percentie had established a comfortable lead with $21,600, followed by Amy Hummel with $13,800, and Kirsten Lundquist trailing with $800. The final category, Nicknames, challenged the contestants to associate the two-word nickname of surfing legend Duke Kahanamoku with his expertise and dominance in his field.
