Katie Piper Misses Weekend Breakfast Show Due to Unexpected Medical Procedure

ITV

Katie Piper has revealed she will not be presenting her ITV breakfast show this weekend, sharing the news with her 1.1 million Instagram followers on Saturday, June 8, 2024. The presenter and activist, known for her work on Loose Women, explained that she needed to undergo an “unexpected medical procedure.”

The 40-year-old wrote: “Sadly, I’m not going to be on my breakfast show this weekend as I’ve had to have an unexpected medical procedure. All is well, and I hope after some rest, I’ll be back in the hot seat next weekend!”

Piper’s post also thanked Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins for stepping in at the last minute. Hawkins was among those wishing Piper a speedy recovery, commenting: “Sending lots of love to you.”

Carol Vorderman also shared her support, writing: “Take care, wonderful lady. You come first. Telly is just telly. Sending huge love and respect.”

Piper’s breakfast show, which airs on Saturdays and Sundays, features celebrity guests and topical discussions. The former model has been open about her long recovery from an acid attack in 2008, which left her with severe injuries and permanent scarring. Sunday’s episode, airing on ITV1 at 8:25 am, features West End star Alexandra Burke and dog training expert Amelia Steele, as well as a crafting segment with Georgina Burnett.

In December 2023, Piper shared details of an operation to sew her eye shut to aid the healing process, telling her fellow Loose Women panellists: “I’ve had quite a lot of problems with my eye in the last year and a half.”

Piper, a mother of two, has undergone hundreds of surgeries and founded the Katie Piper Foundation to support burns victims. In 2021, she was made an OBE for her services to charity and victims of burns and disfigurement injuries.
