Lifetime Announces “Yoga Teacher Killer: The Kaitlin Armstrong Story”

Lifetime Movie Network

Lifetime has greenlit a new movie titled “Yoga Teacher Killer: The Kaitlin Armstrong Story,” based on the true story of the murder of professional cyclist Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson. The movie will star Caity Lotz, Kyle Schmid, and Larissa Dias, and is set to air as part of the network’s summer slate.

The story revolves around a tangled love triangle that led to tragic consequences. Wilson, a rising cyclist, was found dead on May 11, 2022, after being shot at a friend’s home in Austin, Texas. The investigation revealed a complex dynamic involving Wilson, her on-again-off-again boyfriend Colin Strickland, and Strickland’s girlfriend, yoga teacher Kaitlin Armstrong.

Kaitlin Armstrong, 34, was in a relationship with fellow cyclist Colin Strickland, who had briefly dated Wilson while he and Armstrong were separated. Armstrong discovered their fling and, according to a police affidavit, told a friend she “wanted to kill Wilson.” On the night of the murder, Strickland and Wilson went swimming and had dinner before he dropped her off at her friend’s house. Moments later, a vehicle matching Armstrong’s black Jeep Grand Cherokee was seen outside.

Armstrong was questioned by police but released due to a technical fault in the warrant. She then went on the run, selling her Jeep, flying to New York, and eventually fleeing to Costa Rica using her sister’s passport. She underwent cosmetic surgery, including a nose job, and dyed her hair to alter her appearance.

Armstrong was finally arrested in Costa Rica and extradited to the U.S. to face charges. During her trial, she pleaded not guilty and did not testify. However, the jury found her guilty of first-degree murder, and she now faces up to 99 years in prison.

The case has shocked the cycling world and drawn media attention, with many questioning the role of jealousy and toxic relationships in such a tragic outcome. Armstrong’s trial and conviction bring some closure to Wilson’s loved ones and the cycling community.
