Apple TV+ has announced an exciting new thriller series, “Down Cemetery Road,” based on the novel of the same name by CWA Gold Dagger Award-winning author Mick Herron. The show will star Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson, with Thompson also serving as an executive producer.
“Down Cemetery Road” follows the story of Sarah Tucker (Wilson), who becomes obsessed with finding a missing girl after a house explosion in her quiet Oxford suburb. She enlists the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm (Thompson), and together, they find themselves entangled in a complex conspiracy. The show is described as revealing “people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.”
The series is written by Morwenna Banks, who also wrote for Herron’s previous adaptation, “Slow Horses,” on Apple TV+. Banks, along with Thompson and Herron, will serve as executive producers. The show will be directed by Natalie Bailey.
Jay Hunt, Apple TV+’s Creative Director for Europe, expressed her enthusiasm for the new series: “[‘Down Cemetery Road’] has all the hallmarks of Mick Herron’s funny and acerbic writing, and I’m delighted we will be bringing it to life for Apple TV+ with such a stellar cast. Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson will make it an unmissable companion piece for ‘Slow Horses’ on our service.”
“Down Cemetery Road” joins Herron’s recently renewed multi-BAFTA Award-nominated espionage drama “Slow Horses” on Apple TV+.
