Lifetime has commissioned a new original movie, “The Bad Orphan“, starring Betsy Brandt (“Breaking Bad“, “Better Call Saul”) and newcomer Chloe Coco Chapman in her television debut. The film, which is currently in production, will air as part of Lifetime’s summer schedule.
Written by Doris Egan, the psychological drama centres on Jessica (Brandt) and Karl (Mark Taylor, “Reacher”), a devoted couple who, after years of trying, finally adopt an eight-year-old orphan named Gabby (Chapman), who has been born with certain challenges.
However, their dream of a perfect family unit is soon disrupted as they discover that Gabby is a troubled child. As her behaviour becomes increasingly unsettling and secrets are exposed, Jessica fears that Gabby may pose a threat to their family.
The film also stars Eve Edwards (“The Good Doctor”) as Rhiannon, Jessica and Karl’s biological daughter.
“The Bad Orphan” is produced for Lifetime by Neshama Entertainment in association with MarVista Entertainment. It marks Betsy Brandt’s return to Lifetime following her role in the Emmy-nominated film, “Flint”.
