Our Dream Farm with Matt Baker returns with its third episode, continuing the search for the new tenant of the Wallington Estate farm in Northumberland. In this instalment, the seven applicants reach the end of their first week on the farm, facing a series of challenges that test their farming skills and business acumen.

The episode, airing on Channel 4 on Saturday 20 April, begins with Giles Hunt, the National Trust’s Land and Estates Director, and Sally Richards, Wallington Estate’s General Manager, preparing to host business meetings at the grand house. Two hopefuls will be selected to pitch their vision for the farm, outlining their plans for the future.

As the applicants navigate the complexities of lambing season and the arrival of the first lambs, they also explore the estate’s beaver enclosure, highlighting the importance of environmental land management. The episode looks into the applicants’ diverse backgrounds and expertise, including a young couple who sold their house before the selection process, a 22-year-old local lad, a pair of wildlife experts, and a vet. With a focus on commercial instincts, the contestants visit Hexham Farmers’ Market to learn about marketing and selling produce directly to consumers.

Back on the farm, a disagreement arises over the care of newborn lamb twins, showcasing the applicants’ differing approaches to farming. Giles and Sally must make a difficult decision, inviting two applicants to discuss their business plans further while eliminating another from the competition.
