Silent Witness returns with a gripping new episode, “The Penitent, Part 1,” drawing viewers into a treacherous criminal underworld. The episode, airing on ABC TV on Friday, 26 April, sees the Lyell team confront the formidable ‘Ndrangheta’ mafia group following a disturbing incident.
In this instalment, the team, led by Dr Nikki Alexander (played by Emilia Fox), is thrust into action when a man is thrown from a high-rise building. As they find themselves investigating the murky depths of the criminal underworld, they uncover links to the notorious ‘Ndrangheta’ mafia group. Aided by the National Crime Agency, Nikki and her colleagues find themselves entangled in a web of danger and intrigue.
The episode sets the tone for an exciting 26th series, promising five more intricate cases for the Lyell team to unravel. This season, the squad of forensic pathologists and scientists tackle a range of challenging scenarios, including a body falling from a skyscraper, a people-trafficking operation, a suspicious festival death, a train crash, and corrupt police officers.
“The Penitent, Part 1” marks the beginning of a two-part story arc, with the second part airing in the subsequent episode.
