Taskmaster, 25 April 2024, Channel 4, “Snooker Cue Umbrella Chin”

The seventeenth series of the British comedy panel game show Taskmaster is back with it’s fifth episode on 25 Aprils, 2024, on Channel 4.

The series upholds the show’s signature format, challenging a group of five celebrities, predominantly comedians, to undertake a series of unconventional tasks. The contestants’ performances are then judged by show creator Alex Horne and Taskmaster Greg Davies, who award points based on their unique criteria.

The lineup for this season is Steve Pemberton, known for his work in Inside No. 9 and The League of Gentlemen; Sophie Willan, a BAFTA-winning actor and comedian; Nick Mohammed, a Ted Lasso star and Emmy-nominated actor; John Robins, a comedian who gained prominence through his appearances on Mock the Week; and Joanne McNally, a comedian and podcast host known for My Therapist Ghosted Me.

This time Steve Pemberton experiments with G-forces, Joanne McNally rocks a traffic cone, and Sophie Willan creates a unique human-pigeon hybrid. Nick Mohammed finds himself in a peculiar predicament, trapped under a bed, while John Robins pays homage to Little Alex Horne’s hero.

As always, the formidable Taskmaster, Greg Davies, scores their efforts, delivering his trademark blend of wit and whimsy.
