The Curse of Oak Island

As we head into the season finale on Tuesday night it’s worth consider just what the time have achieved this year. Season 11 of The Curse of Oak Island premiered on November 7, 2023, continuing brothers Rick and Marty Lagina’s quest to solve the centuries-old mystery of Oak Island, Nova Scotia.

In the first few episodes, the team focused on Lot 5, where they found four coins and an artifact with Roman numerals, suggesting a connection to the U-shaped structure in Smith’s Cove. They also investigated the Garden Shaft, aiming to reach a tunnel that may lead to the Baby Blob. Additionally, they explored the swamp, uncovering a new structure and evidence of large cargo being moved centuries ago.

As the season progressed, the team’s efforts intensified. They discovered evidence of multiple depositing operations in the Money Pit and received long-awaited Muon topography data, revealing a cavity known as Aladdin’s Cave with potential entrances and exits. They also found clues connecting Lot 5 to English privateer William Phipps and the Knights Templar.

In recent episodes, the team’s investigations led them to exciting discoveries. They uncovered a surprising find on Lot 5, including a connection to Captain Phipps, and evidence of off-loading operations in the swamp. They finally reached their target depth in the Garden Shaft and began probe drilling, only to encounter a dangerous storm that threatened their operations and a potential flood tunnel in the Garden Shaft. They also discovered evidence of multiple depositing operations in the Money Pit and received long-awaited Muon topography data, revealing a cavity known as Aladdin’s Cave with potential entrances and exits.

They made contact with the elusive tunnel under the Garden Shaft and proposed an exciting new scientific theory connecting Nolan’s Cross to the Knights Templar. They also dug up treasure on Lot Five and prepared for a trip to Europe, where they immediately discovered more Templar connections.

Their European trip to Italy, Holland, and Iceland further strengthened the connection between the Templars and Oak Island, with clues pointing to the Knights Templar’s involvement in the island’s history.

Now with the season finale upon us and winter setting in the gang will be winding up operations on the island for another year. It feels like each year a little more of the who, what, where, when and why is discovered and if know major breakthroughs have happened this year the team have still packed in a lot.
