Beef, a single dad doing his best to keep his family close, makes an unexpected discovery about his online friend. In his quest for companionship, he connects with someone only to find out that this person is a cruise ship captain—an occupation that Beef considers a “dire enemy.” This revelation sets the stage for a comical clash of interests and identities.

The Tobin family, residing in Alaska, consists of Beef, his daughter Judy, her older brother Wolf, his fiancé Honeybee, middle brother Ham, and the youngest, Moon. With their mother absent, Judy seeks guidance from her boss, Alyson, and her imaginary friend, Alanis Morissette, who appears in the northern lights.
