The Sympathizer, the historical drama series based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen, returns with an intense episode titled “Love It or Leave It.” In this instalment, the Captain, played by Hoa Xuande, finds himself at a crossroads as he seeks Bon’s help in crafting and executing a plan timed for Independence Day. Meanwhile, Claude introduces the Captain to the Auteur, setting the stage for a Hollywood encounter.
The Captain’s dual loyalties weighing heavily on him. As he navigates his new life in the United States, the Captain must balance his mission as a North Vietnamese spy with his interactions with pillars of American society, including academia, politics, and the film industry.
