A Dark Adapted Eye, A (BBC-1 1994, Helena Bonham Carter, Celia Imrie)

Helena Bonham-Carter stars in the gripping psychological thriller A Dark Adapted Eye, based on Ruth Rendell’s best-selling novel (writing as Barbara Vine). On the surface they were a normal, happy family. Underneath lurked brooding passion, remorse and murder.

In 1951 Vera Hillyard becomes one of the last women in Britain to be sent to the gallows, following the brutal murder of her sister. Also starring Celia Imrie and Sophie Ward. A Dark Adapted Eye completes a Barbara Vine trilogy of BBC Productions along with Gallowglass and A Fatal Inversion.
