Boston Legal (ABC 2004-2008, James Spader, William Shatner)

Legal drama series. This spin off from The Practice taking two of its charcters Alan Shore and Denny Crane to a new law firm Crane, Poole and Schmidt. The final season of The Practice in fact spent much time introducing us to the new law firm and its characters with Shore being fired by Young, Frutt & Berluti and Denny Crane taking up his claim. Shore wins his case but doesn’t get his job back and is soon working for Crane.

There are occasional reminders of The Practice with characters from that show, such as Judge Cooper played by Anthony Heald, making guest appearances. The show chalked up a rack of awards including Emmys for James Spader and William Shatner (two years running although 2004 was for their work on The Practice). Shatner also won a 2005 Golden Globe award for his performance.
