Going Postal (Sky1 2010, David Suchet, Richard Coyle)

Sky One continue their adaptations of Terry Pratchett novels with Going Postal, one of his more recent books. Taking us into the heart of the Discworld postal system Moist Von Lipwig is a conman who, rather than face death by hanging, is forced to take on the managership of the Ankh-Morpork Post Office and given the task of having it make a profit.

Of course he is soon running into trouble and making an enemy of Reacher Gilt who is making a fortune running the city’s telegraph service aka Grand Trunks Clacks. When Moist meets the beguiling Adora he is determined to make a go of the Post Office to try and win her over but he hasn’t realised that it is thanks to him that her family is in the parlous state it is in.

Another slice of great entertainment, Sky are doing a great job with these adaptations. It was never going to be easy to create the Discworld completely but Sky have thrown plenty of money at the budget and attracted some big names to the cast too. It also helps having Terry Pratchett on board too, here is co-writing and no doubt making sure his vision of the Discworld is as good as it can be.

Much of the location work was filmed in Hungary.
