Casual Vacancy, The (BBC-1 2015, Keeley Hawes, Rory Kinnear)

Drama serial The Casual Vacancy was based on the first non Harry Potter novel by J.K. Rowling. It was set in the outwardly idyllic village of Pagford where undercurrents and secrets suggest that things are going on behind the village facade.

Initially Rowling had resisted calls to adapt The Casual Vacancy into a film or TV production but the BBC do this type of thing so well she couldn’t resist.
