Informer, The (ITV 1966-1967, Ian Hendry)

Crime drama series The Informer saw Ian Hendry playing Alex Lambert is a disbarred barrister who is building a new career as a police informant – often specialising in work involving insurance companies. Lambert poses as a business consultant to keep his real work as secret as possible.

This being the 1960′ the world of the police snout is seen to be somewhat more glamorous than it would become in the 1970’s thanks in no small part to shows like New Scotland Yard and The Sweeney.

Another good starring role for Ian Hendry though.

Writers on the series were high quality and included the likes of Michael J. Bird, Richard Harris, Jack Trevor Story, Jeremy Paul and Hugh Leonard. The directors included a young Ridley Scott, Michael Lindsay-Hogg and Don Leaver.
