Ladykillers (ITV Drama, Robert Morley)

Ladykillers was an anthology of period murder trials hosted by Robert Morley. The first season focused on women who killed whilst the second on murderers in general.

Of the women featured in the first run of episodes Ruth Ellis (Georgina Hale) was the most prominent, the last women in England to hang (for the shooting of her lover). The most gruesome though was that of the case of Kate Webster (Elaine Paige) accused of chopping off the head of her employer after she was sacked.

Season two looked at such infamous killers as Dr Crippen, Frederick Henry Seddon and brides in the bath killer George Joseph Smith.

Elaine Paige played Kate Webster.

Actors taking part were pretty prominent and included the likes of Robert Stephens, Barbara Kellerman, Elaine Paige, Michael Kitchen, Rita Tushingham, George Baker, Ian McCulloch, Joan Sims, Michael Jayston, Carol Drinkwater, Hannah Gordon, Kenneth Haigh, Christopher Cazenove and Gayle Hunnicutt.

The courtroom studio set was also used on Crown Court.
