A Month in the Country (ITV 1955, Margaret Leighton, Michael Gough)

Drama A Month in the Country was based on the Turgenev play. A newcomer to a wealthy Russian household manages to stir up jealousy and resentment. This production was broadcast during ITV’s first week on the air.

An edition of Internation Theatre from the very earliest days of the ITV Network with a major all star cast. In 1985 The BBC mounted another production of this, produced by Louis Marks and directed by Bill Hays. Amongst the cast were Eleanor Bron and Richard Briers.
