Published

on

Comedy impressionist Mike Yarwood appeared in this his first starring vehicle. Regulars included Dilys Watling and Len Lowe. Guests on the first show were Diana Dors and Vince Hill whilst later episodes included the likes of Kathy Kirby, Bob Monkhouse, Vi Roscoe, Johnny Vyvyan, Max Wall, Clement Freud and Norman Vaughan.

Regular support came from The M. Y. Girls (Sandra Burville, Elaine Carr, Marilyn Corney, Doreen Cran, Suzanna Page and Maggie Vieler), The Mike Sammes Singers and Peter Knight and His Orchestra.

A short edition of the show also appeared in ITV’s annual All Star Comedy Carnival broadcast Christmas Day 1969. Dilys Watling also appeared in that too.

There was a short article in the TV Times promoting the start of the series: His impersonations of Harold Wilson, Heorhge Brown, Malcolm Muggeridge are more than caricatures. He has stolen something from all of them and lays his contraband goods before an audience much like one of those fly gentlemen with a suitcase on the pavements of London’s Oxford Street.
