Porridge (BBC-1 28 Aug 2016, Kevin Bishop)

Part of the BBC’s sitcom season continues with not a reboot of all time classic Porridge as such but more a revisit to Slade prison. The one off episode has been written by original scripters Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais and sees Fletcher’s grandson Nigel aka Fletch, sent to prison (Slade naturally) for various cyber-crimes.

There are a few nods to the original series not least in the dynamic between Fletch and Officer Meekie as well as the fact that one of the characters is called Joe Lotterby – Sydney Lotterby was the producer of the original series.
